There was a time when the city of Seattle was ground zero for the grunge-rock explosion that took over popular music throughout the first half of the 1990s. Rock fans still recognize the city as the birthplace to many of the genre’s most well-known acts, including Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, Soundgarden and of course, Pearl Jam. Some of those business-owning grunge supporters, including those in charge of running the city’s Edgewater Hotel along Elliott Bay, are taking their fandom to the next level by allowing fans to enjoy a stay at their customized Pearl Jam Suite.
As Stereogum reports, The Edgewater has begun the process of booking guests in anticipation of Pearl Jam’s Seattle “Home Shows” scheduled for this August. The rock-friendly hotel apparently also has a Beatles Suite, so it only makes sense that they construct a room fitting for grunge royalty. According to the hotel’s website, the walls are lined with “authentic concert memorabilia,” which adds to the “industrial, grunge-inspired designs” found throughout the two rooms. The Suite also includes a carefully selected mix of “industrial grunge-inspired décor” to add to a guitar, a fully-functioning amplifier and a vinyl record player fully stocked with Pearl Jam albums. Who even needs a mini-bar?
For those who may be worried on how much a stay at the rock room will cost, don’t worry, because 10% of the room’s proceeds will be going to benefit the city’s homeless. It should also be noted that Beatles Suite is equally as impressive, just a little more colorful than its heavier, grunge counterpart. More images and information on the Suite can be seen in the shared social media posts below.
As for the members of the band themselves, there’s been no word as to whether they have yet to spend a night in the Suite, or have at least given it their best rock and roll party treatment, but the venue’s general manager is optimistic, probably. Pearl Jam are currently getting ready to travel overseas for a European/U.K. summer tour that starts early next month on June 12. Included on their overseas tour schedule is a pair of shows at London’s O2 on June 18-19. Tickets for the two concerts are on sale now and can be purchased by clicking here.
