"Bad Liar" is Gomez's latest single. It's her first major release since 2015's Revival, which featured hit songs like "Good for You" with A$AP Rocky, "Same Old Love" and "Hands to Myself." She penned "Liar" with usual suspects Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter. The rock-inspired release borrows the bass line from Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer." Selena's breathy vocals are more animated as she fights the feelings for a former flame (Justin Bieber?). "I'm trying not to think about you," Gomez repeats throughout. "Bad" is soulful and sultry all rolled into an edgy pop romp.
With the release of the single, Gomez also premiered a visual for "Bad Liar" as a Spotify exclusive. In lingerie, she rolls around in bed with her hands tied-up. The vertical video was seemingly shot with an iPhone. Apparently there's an official music video still on the way with this only serving as a promotional release. If watching the steamy clip on Spotify adds to the single's streaming figures then expect Gomez to do some serious damage on the Billboard charts next week.
"Bad Liar" is now available on iTunes and Apple Music. Gomez has not yet revealed if the single will lead a full follow-up to the Revival album.
