Health care workers around the world are fighting to save lives on the coronavirus frontlines. Multi-platinum rockers Shinedown are teaming up with non-profit humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief to help meet their most urgent personal protective equipment needs.

Shinedown is releasing a never-before-heard brand-new track called “Atlas Falls,” to support Direct Relief’s ongoing effort to provide personal protective equipment and essential medical items including protective masks, exam gloves, and isolation gowns to heath workers here in the U.S. and across the globe.

“Atlas Falls” is currently available for download with the purchase of a special t-shirt. 100 percent of purchase proceeds will go to Direct Relief. Direct Relief is a humanitarian aid organization that is active in all 50 American states and over 100 countries around the world.

It is one of the biggest providers of humanitarian medical resources in the world. Health care workers are tasked with fighting a deadly unknown virus of pandemic proportions head on with COVID-19. Direct Relief is working in overdrive to get as much vital protective gear into the hands of health workers as possible, as quickly as possible.

The organization is actively meeting these critical needs by making emergency deliveries to U.S.-based medical facilities every day.

According to a press release, Shinedown’s uplifting anthem “Atlas Falls” “is inspired by the Greek myth of Titan Atlas, who carries a celestial sphere on his shoulders.” The track sends out the message that “if Atlas falls, we’ll hold each other up in times of strife.”

Shinedown frontman Brent Smith talked about the importance of pulling together and doing our part to fight the global pandemic in a press release about the band’s Direct Relief partnership.

“I have always said and believe to be true that music can heal us all. We need music, and each other, now more than ever as we all are witnessing a global pandemic unlike anything we have ever seen in many generations. Myself, Barry, Zach, Eric, and our Shinedown family want the entire world to know that we are in this together, and we must all do our part and continue to encourage love, respect and taking care of each other,” Smith said. “Now is the time to put our differences aside so that we can truly lift each other up. We have partnered with an incredible organization Direct Relief who are doing important work globally to help the medical community receive the resources they need in order to save lives.”

The daily news is dark and grim as lives are being lost to this vicious virus. Shinedown and Direct Relief are working together to offer optimism and foster faith in humanity in their joint effort to help health workers save lives.
