Slayer announced dates this morning for the band's final U.S. tour.
The metal masters responsible for 1986's groundbreaking Reign in Blood, 1988's South of Heaven, and 1990's Seasons in the Abyss will be joined on the road by fellow titans Anthrax, Testament, Lamb of God, and Behemoth.
Slayer's last studio effort--its twelfth--was 2015's Repentless.
The Huntington Park, Calif. quartet formed in 1983 and helped pave the way for a faster, more diabolical metal sound. Guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman often traded solos and riffs on pivotal recordings like "Dead Skin Mask," "Angel of Death," "War Ensemble," and "Hallowed Point," setting a new standard for every multi-guitar group that followed. Bassist / singer Tom Araya's verses--often written by the guitarists--focused on humanity's dark side, covering such topics as war and crime.
No word yet on whether Slayer--whose ranks now include drummer Paul Bostaph and guitarist Gary Holt (Exodus)--will continue recording new material.
Hanneman passed away in 2013.
Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. Grab select tickets to the tour right here on AXS.
