“It’s been two decades since we first performed at the City National Grove of Anaheim. We’ve enjoyed performing there many times, including the one time that Don Felder joined us on stage. The audiences are always an enthusiastic crowd. Nothing but fond memories at the venue," co-founding guitarist and vocalist James Young said.
The band released their first studio album in 14 years, called The Mission, last year. The album was a concept record about a mission from Earth to Mars, and fans can listen to the lead single "Gone Gone Gone" by playing the video above. The record peaked at number 45 on the Billboard 200, and considering that it's not only the newest music from Styx but also tells an awe-inspiring story about space travel, it's a safe bet that songs from The Mission will be part of the City National Grove concert.
But for those fans of classic Styx, never fear. The band has plenty of past hits in their portfolio, including "Come Sail Away" and "Renegade." They created some of the most catchy rock songs of their era, which were able to combine creative storytelling like that with catchy choruses. Decades after their initial success, their music continues to hold up and it sounds even better when heard in person - especially at a venue like City National Grove of Anaheim, which has great acoustics as well as excellent views of the stage from every level.
