Milwaukee’s Summerfest, the “World’s Largest Music Festival,” is celebrating its 50-year anniversary by giving away free tickets to Summerfest 2017. Patrons who arrive at Summerfest on Sun., July 10 between noon-3 p.m. get free admission to this year’s festival and have a very good chance to receive a free ticket to the 2017 festival.
The festival is kicking off the Summerfest 50 celebration by giving 50,000 free tickets to patrons who attend Summerfest on the final day of this year’s festival. The first 50,000 guests who arrive at the festival on Sun., July 10, 2016 between noon and 5 p.m. will receive one free General Admission ticket to Summerfest 2017.
The 50,000 for Summerfest 50 promotion will complement a free admission promotion for Sun., July 10, 2016. Summerfest and Meijer are sponsoring Summerfest “Fan Appreciation Day,” offering free admission to patrons who arrive between noon -3 p.m.
The Summerfest 2017 commemorative tickets will be distributed while supplies last, or through 5 p.m., whichever comes first. Tickets distributed for the 2017 event will be good any day, any time.
The headliners at Marcus Amphitheater on Sun., July 10, 2016 are Sting and Peter Gabriel Rock Paper Scissors. There is an additional ticket purchase required for artists at Marcus Amphitheater, which includes gate admission. Headliners for the final five days of the 2016 festival include: Def Leppard with REO Speedwagon and Tesla on July 6, Luke Bryan on July 7, Paul McCartney on July 8, Weezer and Panic! At the Disco on July 9, and Sting and Peter Gabriel on July 10.
The gate admission includes 11 stages of entertainment, including the BMO Harris Pavilion, Miller Lite Oasis, Harley Davidson Roadhouse, Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard, U.S. Cellular Connection Stage, Uline Warehouse Stage, Johnson Controls World Sound Stage, JoJo’s Martini Lounge and more. Walk from stage to stage and experience the different genres of music at the festival.
Summerfest also offers a great selection of food from local vendors offering American and ethnic foods for which Milwaukee is famed. A partial list of vendors includes Bomber’s, Angelo’s Pizza, Botana’s Mexican Cuisine, Charcoal Grill, Chubby's Cheesesteaks, Famous Dave's Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que, The Lakeside Supper Club & Lounge, Mader’s German Restaurant, Saz’s Festivals, Trinity Irish Pubs, Venice Club, Water Street Brewery, and more. The selection of foods is amazing, so plan to eat lunch or dinner at Summerfest.
Summerfest was founded in 1968 and is a well-established in the pantheon of music festivals. The festival is held at the Henry Maier Festival Park, also known as the Summerfest grounds, on the shore of Lake Michigan. The 76-acre permanent festival site on the lake has recently had $65MM in development.
