Loosen up those kneepads and start mastering the art of the dig, because the 2018 NCAA Division 1 Women’s Volleyball Championship is coming to the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. next winter. Announced earlier this week, next year’s Championships will take place on Dec. 13 and 15, and will be going on sale to the public starting this Thursday, Dec. 14. Fans who plan on attending the 2017 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Semi-Finals in Kansas City later this week will have the chance to buy the advance tickets on site at the Sprint Center box office.

The 2017 NCAA Women’s Semi-Finals are scheduled to take place this Thursday, Dec. 14, and welcome the ladies of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Penn State Nittany Lions, Stanford Cardinals and the Florida Gators to the hardwood for two days of ultimate competition. For anyone who has never seen competitive volleyball up close, this week’s matches should provide a great example of how fast-paced and intense the sport in the college ranks really is. Never mind having to get up to reach the height required to get the ball over a raised net- try getting back down in a squat-like position to defend a ball and keep it in play after its been spiked right at you. Perhaps the friendlier confines of the stands are the more comfortable spot to watch the action up close.

As this year’s volleyball season comes to a close, make sure to tune in when the championship matches take place this Saturday, Dec. 16. The same two teams may not be the ones who head to Minneapolis this time next year, but it will surely leave a snapshot in your mind of what fans can expect to see when the action comes to the Target Center in 2018.
