Mexican superstar Thalía got up close and personal with her fans during a special event she hosted in Hollywood, California on Oct. 24. Those in attendance were able to hear some previews of her upcoming album, Valiente.
Valiente (Brave) will be Thalía's fourteenth studio album when it drops next month. Two singles have come from the record so far: the reggaeton-inflected club track "No Me Acuerdo" (I Don't Remember) featuring Dominican artist Natti Natasha and the tropical banger "Lento" (Slow) with Cuban duo Gente de Zona. Other songs released from Valiente include the electronic delight "Corazón Valiente" (Brave Heart) and the #ThaliaChallenge-driven "Me Oyen, Me Escuchan" ("Can You Hear Me"), which appears as a bonus track.
Thalía kicked off her album preview party on Wednesday night at The Argyle nightclub in Hollywood. Before she came out, a DJ from K-LOVE 107.5 FM played the hits from Valiente along with rest of the songs that were played for fans' ears for the first time ever. From having heard what's to come, Thalía's record sees her continuing to push her Latin pop sound into reggaeton territory and, surprisingly, into trap music-influenced beats. There are the ballads she is famous for too, of course. Valiente also features Mexican singer Carlos Rivera on "Qué Ironía" (What Irony) and Argentinean artist Lali on "Lindo Pero Bruto" (Cute but Stupid).
After playing pieces of the Valiente album, Thalía appeared to greet her adoring public with plenty of gratitude in Spanish. The pop star acknowledged that some of her fans, what she called a family of love and tribe of passion, stayed overnight and all day outside The Argyle for a chance to meet her. While thanking them, Thalía also joked that they do love the drama and emotion. She then leads the packed club into a hardy sing-along of the choruses for "No Me Acuerdo," "Lento" and "Me Oyen." A Sony executive later presented her with a plaque from the RIAA noting the quadruple-Platinum status of "Acuerdo" and Thalía was absolutely elated.
Thalía ended the night by inviting all her fans to take photos with her where she danced with and kissed some of them during the shoot. On the way to her car, Thalía turned the camera on her fans and filmed the frenzy with her phone. Valiente will be released on Nov. 9. She is a headliner for K-LOVE's Las Que Mandan concert at Inglewood's The Forum on Nov. 17 alongside Mexican divas Paulina Rubio and Gloria Trevi.
