Taylor Swift cleaned the house at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday, April 3 at The Forum in Los Angeles. It’s the only award show where artists and fans collide and fans have a say in categories like “Best Fan Army” and “Best Meme-able Moment” by casting their vote on social media. This year’s host Jason Derulo also took the stage performing his latest hit song ‘If it Ain’t Love’. It was a star studded event with music’s biggest names including Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake and Selena Gomez but here were just a few of the evening’s highlights:
Justin Bieber dancing with a Belieber
The show opened up with Bieber and his new dreadlocks, who took the stage and sang an acoustic version of “Love Yourself” and his latest single off his Purpose album “Company.” In true Bieber fashion, he went into the crowd and pulled a fan in to dance with him. It’s no wonder he won the award for “Best Fan Army.”
Taylor Swift thanks boyfriend in acceptance speech
Taylor Swift winning another award comes as no surprise. But Swift thanking boyfriend Adam (also known as Calvin Harris) in her acceptance speech was. She took home the award for “Best Tour” and started off by thanking all her artist pals who surprised her fans on tour and then of course thanked her Swifties. She went on to thank her man for all his support, “And for the first time I had the most amazing person to come home to when the spotlight went out and when the crowds were all gone, so I want to thank my boyfriend Adam for that.” The power couple were seen hugging each other all night.
Demi Lovato and Brad Paisley duet
Not quite a duet one would expect, but Demi Lovato sang her heart out to “Stone Cold” with country star Brad Paisley on guitar. In one of the evening’s most talked about performances, Demi showed off her vocal range in the emotional ballad.
Justin Timberlake presents award to Taylor Swift
Justin Timberlake presented Taylor Swift with the award for “Best Tour” and he had nothing but praise and admiration for Swift. He threw in a subtle political joke and then told the crowd to “shut up” because they’re too young to even vote. He’s still got it.
Iggy Azalea’s jet on stage
Wheels down! Iggy Azalea closed out the evening during her performance of “Team” with her name tagged on an aircraft on stage (FAA approved). Could it symbolize the turbulence the rapper has faced this year? Who knows, but with an album set to be released in June she’s ready for take off.
