The Bee Gees bringing back classic 1989 'One For All' tour live concert on video early in 2018

The Bee Gees' 1989 One For All world tour, their first global tour in 10 years, was an amazing international series of shows that featured Maurice, Barry and Robin Gibb doing songs from their just-released (and then critically acclaimed) One album and digging deep into their catalog for songs including the one that introduced them to American audiences, “New York Mining Disaster 1941” that made the U.S. Billboard Top 25 at #14 and also hit #12 in the UK. Eagle Rock Entertainment announced Dec. 21 that they will release The Bee Gees One For All Tour Live in Australia 1989, recorded live at the National Tennis Centre in Melbourne in November 1989, on DVD, SD Blu-ray and digital formats on February 2, 2018. The concert has been newly remixed and remastered for the new release.

This tour, which played in the U.S., Canada, Japan, Europe and Australia for most of that year, was the last time they would tour this extensively. In later years, the band would do tours of much shorter duration (such as the three-month High Civilization tour) or special events, such as the A&E TV special that later became Live By Request. The One For All tour went deep into their history, going all the way back to one of their early breakthrough songs, “Spicks and Specks.” Some of the moments in the show were simply stunning -– like the brief three-part harmony on “Run to Me” that ended abruptly after the group sang the title of the song. The set list features many of their U.S. #1 hits, including “Stayin' Alive,” “Nights on Broadway,” “Jive Talkin',” “How Deep Is Your Love” and “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.”

The concert had been released previously as a two-part VHS tape set and more recently on audio only as part of The Bee Gees Warner Bros. Years 1987 - 1991 CD set, as well as being available on several gray-market releases. But the new release is a welcome return to video for what was a superb show for those who saw it when it happened. Now they and others who never got to experience it for themselves will be able to enjoy what was a great part of the group's history.
