Naturally, April 20—the de facto pot holiday—is a big deal in Colorado. The state has long been at the forefront of the marijuana movement and the celebrations in Colorado have gotten bigger each year. In years past High Times has held their Cannabis Cup in Denver and there are always a number of high-profile musical performances to choose from. 2017 is no different, and with 420 falling on a Thursday the festivities will be getting underway Wednesday and stretching through the weekend. One of the greatest and most storied collaborations in hip-hop history, Method Man and Redman will be getting the 420 festivities kicked off right at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Wednesday, April 19. After grabbing his first #1 single as a featured artist on Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles” and releasing his 10th studio album—The Return of East Atlanta Santa—in December of 2016, Gucci is back in a big way. The prolific rapper will be bringing his “TrapGod” tour to Denver’s Ogden Theatre to celebrate 420 with special guests Dreezy and DJ Topshelf. Click here for tickets.
Psychedelic indie pop electro rock, is how you could describe Athens, Georgia-based band of Montreal, which also means they will fit in just fine in Denver on 420. Special guests Christina Schneider’s Jepeto Solutions will join of Montreal at the Bluebird Theater. Click here for tickets.
As a newly minted solo act, Chris Cameruci will be bringing his trap project Flosstradamus to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on 420 proper for HDYFEST 2017. Joining Cameruci will be special guests What So Not, Gryffin and Branchez. In March Flosstradamus released the single “Back Again” featuring Woka Flocka Flame and Mayhem. Brooklyn-based electronic duo Break Science—consisting of Adam Deitch (drums, programming) and Borahm Lee (keyboards, programming)—will no doubt have the Gothic Theatre jumping on 420 with their live breakbeat jams. What better way to close out the 420 festivities than with two of the biggest potheads in the game? Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa will be brining their aptly named “Wellness Retreat” to Red Rocks with fellow pot enthusiasts Cypress Hill and Berner.
