The Blue Note Jazz Festival

Currently half-way through its run is the Blue Note Jazz Festival, compiled of their 3 main clubs, The Blue Note, B.B. King's, and Highline Ballroom, in addition to over fifteen other partner venues and theaters across New York City. This 30-day event has already featured amazing performances and artists over the past few weeks; here's a recap of some of the shows that have passed:
The Dizzy Gillespie Afro Cuban Experience ft. Machito Jr.
Salt-N-Pepa
Sérgio Mendes
Los Lobos
Michael Bolton
Maxi Priest
Bobby McFerrin & Questlove
Aretha Franklin
Lalah Hathaway & Ruben Studdard

Just in case you missed out on any of the amazing artists earlier this month, do not fret or worry my friends, there is still plenty of time left and way more music to fill your oratory bellies. No matter where you are in New York City, you can catch something to groove to; closing out the month with shows every night at such amazing venues as Rockwood Music Hall, IFC Center, The Town Hall, Small's, The Lehman Center, Central Park Summerstage and more. Suffice to say, the Summer has only just begun, and while there will be plenty of fantastic performances across thousands of stages in New York, this is definitely a great way to kick off the heatwave.
