The wildly fun psychedelic rock project from Sean Lennon and Primus bassist/singer Les Claypool known as The Claypool Lennon Delirium will return with a new album and North American tour dates next spring. The band announced a run of spring 2019 concerts in support of South Of Reality when their new album arrives on Feb. 22 on ATO Records. The band’s announcement on Tuesday also came with the second single to appear on the album, with a mystical guitar-friendly song titled, “Easily Charmed By Fools.”
The new track follows the previously released “Blood And Rockets” as the second pre-release single from the upcoming album. “Easily Charmed By Fools doesn’t quite have the range and depth to its predecessor in terms of where the music might head, but it does include Claypool and Lennon’s trademark touch of psych-rock guitar and bass riffs. Claypool takes the lead vocal duties throughout the beginning of the song, but they let their instruments take over beginning at the 1:52 minute mark, and continue well into the heart of the song as the two trade of lead riffs and solos. Claypool can finally be heard returning with lyrics to bring the song back down to earth at the 3:16 mark, but they don’t stick around very long. The instrumental sections return with Lennon strumming away on an acoustic guitar as he sends listeners off with some dreamy electric guitar lines as the single fades away into the oblivion.
The band’s spring tour will begin on April 10 in Toronto and continues throughout the remainder of the month before wrapping on April 27 with a show at the Majestic Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. Some of the notable stops on the tour include scheduled performances at New York City’s Brooklyn Steel on April 16, and Nashville’s Marathon Music Works on April 20, just to name a few.
Tickets to select shows on the tour will begin general on-sale this Friday, December 14 at 10 a.m. local time, and can be purchased by clicking here.
