Veteran rockers The Feelies have announced select concerts in New York City, Washington, DC and North Carolina set for this spring and summer. The rock group, which formed back in the 1970s and has since gone on to reunite in recent years, will return to Brooklyn’s Rough Trade for a pair of concerts on April 13 an 14. They’ll then take a few more months off before returning to the stage for two more shows in Washington’s 930 Club on June 22, and Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, NC on June 23.
The five-piece rock group, who helped influence future alternative and indie rock bands in the years following their formation, began their journey back in 1976 and released their first album a few years later with 1980s Crazy Rhythms. The Feelies continued to rock throughout the 1980s before disbanding in the early 90s. They reunited in 2008 and have since released two more studio albums with 2011’s Here Before, and more recently, In Between in 2017. Only the bands guitarists/singers Glenn Mercer and Bill Million have remained the two constant members from the band’s original lineup to 2018.
As Brooklyn Vegan points out, the rock band known as Yung Wu, which consisted of most members of The Feelies except with a different percussionist, will see their 1987 Shore Leave LP reissued by Bar/None Records this spring. Fans could and should expect to hear some of the tracks of that album appear on the setlists for the band’s upcoming 2018 shows.
Tickets for select concerts on The Feelies’ 2018 schedule will be going on sale starting this Friday, Jan. 12, and can be purchased by clicking here.
