The Jesus Lizard to visit LA's Fonda Theatre on first tour in eight years

The pioneers of noise rock are returning to the road after an eight-year hiatus. The Jesus Lizard have announced their first tour dates since 2009 and will play fives shows across the U.S. in December, including a stop at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. The shows precede their previously-announced headlining spot at the Day for Night festival in their native Texas.

The jaunt kicks off on Dec. 8 at the Cannery Ballroom in Nashville. The foursome will then travel to Chicago's Metro the following night before landing in New York City on Dec. 10 for a show at Irving Plaza. A Dec. 14 show at The Fonda will be the penultimate solo gig before they end their run at The Independent in San Francisco on Dec. 15. The Day for Night festival will take place between Dec. 15-17.

The Jesus Lizard formed in 1987 and are considered one of the founding bands in the alternative rock movement of the 1990s. Though they have worked closely alongside heralded producer Steve Albini, the group failed to receive the commercial success of peers like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Radiohead.

After initially disbanding in 1999, The Jesus Lizard returned in 2008 to perform at various music festivals like Pitchfork Music Festival and All Tomorrow's Parties in the U.S. and U.K. They would announce their second breakup in 2010, saying that it was likely their last run together on their official website.

Tickets for all upcoming solo shows go on sale this Friday, Oct. 6 at 1o a.m. local time via AXS.com. Make sure to check back here for the latest The Jesus Lizard tour news and announcements and check out the band's complete tour routing below.
