"The Voice" said goodbye to the knockout rounds and hello to the live playoffs on Tuesday, as the NBC singing competition wrapped up the last pre-taped phase of its competition. Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus made their final cuts before next week's playoffs in Tuesday's episode and handed out one final second chance. Here's what music fans need to know:
1) The final steal
The last steal of "The Voice" season 13 was handed out on Tuesday. Team Adam's Hannah Mrozak lost her knockout to Anthony Alexander, but her performance was enough to earn her a second chance on Team Jennifer. You can watch the performance that earned Hannah the final steal by playing the video above. Interestingly, that outcome also mirrors the final episode of the season 13 battle rounds, in which there was one steal left and it was handed out to the last contestant of the night. So if it felt familiar, that's because it was.
2) Two more stolen artists were eliminated
Continuing the thread from last night's episode, two more of the artists who received steals in the battle rounds were sent packing in Tuesday's knockout rounds. Team Jennifer's Katrina Rose and Team Blake's Megan Rose both got their walking papers in this episode. Between Monday and Tuesday, that's five of the eight stolen artists who were eliminated after their very next performance. Overall, only two stolen artists from the battles, Noah Mac and Addison Agen, will be making it into the live playoffs. A 25 percent success rate isn't encouraging.
3) Red Marlow is going to the playoffs
The overall talent pool in "The Voice" has skewed younger in recent seasons, and that includes "The Voice" season 13. However, one of the season's oldest contestants killed it in his knockout round on Tuesday and will be in the live playoffs next week. That's Team Blake's Red Marlow, who defeated Megan Rose to advance in the competition. He could be a dark horse this season if music fans support him with their votes in the playoffs the way that Blake has supported him so far. There's still a place for veteran talent on "The Voice" and Red Marlow is proving it in season 13.
