Monday night was battle night on "The Voice" as the NBC singing competition began its second, and final, week of battle rounds. Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus continued to pit members of their teams against one another for spots in next week's knockouts, while they battled each other to use all but one of their remaining steals. It was a busy night, and here are the three things music fans need to know from Monday's episode:
1) Jennifer Hudson's sneak attack
Jennifer Hudson has now mastered the art of the surprise steal. In the seasons since "The Voice" has instituted steals, coaches have started to wait until the last possible second to push their button for dramatic effect, and Monday was Jennifer's turn. Though she was visibly unhappy with Miley's decision to choose Janice Freeman over Katrina Rose, she waited until Katrina was saying her tearful goodbyes to the coaching panel before using her final steal. You can watch the jaw-dropping battle and even more shocking steal by playing the video above.
2) The other steals and the winners
There were two more steals on Monday night. Team Adam picked up Team Miley's Addison Agen, while Team Miley recruited Team Jennifer's Stephan Marcellus. The latter gave Miley Cyrus her first male contestant in "The Voice" season 13 as well. Advancing by winning their battles were Team Adam's Jon Mero, Emily Luther and Anthony Alexander, Team Blake's Red Marlow and Anna Catherine DeHart, Team Miley's Karli Webster and Janice Freeman, and Team Jennifer's Jeremiah Miller and Shi'Ann Jones.
3) The eliminations
Going home in this episode were Team Adam's Brandon Brown, Gary Carpentier and Michael Kight, Team Blake's Ryan Scripps and Kristi Hoopes, and Team Jennifer's Alexandra Joyce. As both of Team Miley's artists were stolen by other coaches, Miley Cyrus technically did not have anyone eliminated in this episode. So if you're a Team Miley fan, this was the episode for you. Now the focus turns to Team Blake, as Blake is the only coach with a steal remaining going into tomorrow's final battle rounds episode.
"Voice" fans will also not want to miss Monday's announcement about who will be joining the series for next week's knockout rounds. Find out which music superstar is coming to the show here.
