The Weeknd becomes a 'Party Monster' in trippy music video

Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd premiered the music video for "Party Monster" on Jan. 12. He takes partying to another level in the trippy clip.

"Party Monster" is one of the songs on The Weeknd's Starboy album. It's the third to receive a music video following the title track and "False Alarm." Fellow alt-pop star Lana Del Rey had a hand in writing "Monster" with The Weeknd. Trap beats and siren-like synths back him looking for a lover who is just as self-destructive. "I seen her take down that tequila / Down by the liter / I knew I had to meet her," The Weeknd sings. "Monster" is a beast of a club anthem.

The music video for "Party Monster" was directed by BRTHR, the duo behind The Weeknd's "In the Night" clip. He races onto the scene in a sports car and finds himself on some kind of trip. The desert around The Weeknd turns into flashes of lights and hellish visuals of supernatural models and other unsettling images. By the end, faces are melting off and The Weeknd's car takes a dive off a cliff. The "Party Monster" video is an absolutely wicked watch.

"Party Monster" is now available on iTunes and Apple Music. The Weeknd's Starboy album is currently No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for a second time. He will embark on a tour in support of the record later this year.
