In order for a team to find success, it has to be capable of winning away from its home confines. During some of the best LA Clippers’ seasons, the organization has been as dominant on the road as it has been at Staples Center.
With the Clippers chasing a playoff spot–especially after having spent much of February on the road–we take a look at the top 5 road teams in Clippers history:
5. 2016-17 LA Clippers
Going 22-19 on the road might not seem impressive, but the Clippers have not enjoyed much historical success away from Los Angeles. The solid road record led the Clippers to a 51-31 finish and a second-place finish in the Pacific Division.
4. 2013-14 LA Clippers
The 23-18 road record also included a first-place finish in the Pacific. The Clippers notched their best season in franchise history with a 57-25 campaign and advanced to the second round of the Western Conference playoffs. The season also signified Doc Rivers’ first as head coach.
3. 2015-16 LA Clippers
The Clippers tied for their best road record in 2015-16 with a 24-17 mark. The Clippers came in second in their division to the 73-9 Golden State Warriors. Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, and DeAndre Jordan put on a show in road arenas, as well as in Staples Center.
2. 2012-13 LA Clippers
Although the team finished with the same record two years in a row (24-17), the Clippers won their division–beating out the Golden State Warriors. The road performances helped lift the Clippers to a first-round home series, which the Clippers lost to the Memphis Grizzlies.
1. 2014-15 LA Clippers
The Clippers enjoyed their best season away from Staples Center in 2014-15, when the team went 26-15. This season also marked one of the most promising seasons in Clippers’ history, as the team went 56-26 on the year and nearly made it to the Conference Finals before falling to the Houston Rockets in seven games.
