The month of October 2014 presents a lot of fantastic concert opportunities for fans of rock music in the DFW area. Whether you prefer pop, classic, rock or metal, there is a huge concert for everyone. Here is a look at the upcoming concerts coming to Dallas and Fort Worth over the next month for anyone who wants to rock out.
Marc Anthony brings his Cambio de Piel to Dallas for two big shows to kick off the month of October at the American Airlines Arena. The shows take place on Oct. 3-4 and features Anthony promoting his new album, 3.0. Anthony, who just won 10 awards at the 2014 Billboard Latin Music Awards, heads to the DFW with his big tour and Dallas joins Los Angeles and Miami as American cities with multiple concert appearances.
On Oct. 11, former Beatles legand Ringo Starr makes his way to The Verizon Theatre for a big concert with his All-Starr Band. The concert has been a mainstay for Starr, where he tours with some major musicians from other popular bands from the past. The 2014 tour includes Toto's Steve Lukather, Mr. Mister's Richard Page, original Santana singer Gregg Rolie, Todd Rundgren and drummer Gregg Bissonette.
Ringo Starr isn’t the only Beatles star touring through Texas in October. Two days after Starr plays at The Verizon Theatre, Sir Paul McCartney hits the American Airlines Center on Oct. 13. The tour for McCartney is the “Out There” tour and this Dallas show was originally scheduled to take place in June, but was rescheduled to this month. One has to wonder if there might be a surprise Beatles' reunion with McCartney and Starr both in town.
Freaker’s Ball Tour
For fans more interested in current rock acts, the Freaker’s Ball Tour hits the Verizon Theatre on Oct. 16. The huge event includes Papa Roach, Chevelle, P.O.D., New Medicine, Starset and Crobot. Past Freaker’s Ball shows have included names like Rob Zombie, Korn and Marilyn Manson. This year’s concert, promoted by KEGL, opens its doors at 4:30 p.m. CT and the first band takes the stage at 5:30.
Slipknot and Korn
For fans who like their rock as hard as it can get, there is a special Halloween show on Oct. 31 that features a band that is perfect for the holiday. Slipknot and Korn hit the Gexa Energy Pavilion on Halloween for the second stop for the bands' Prepare for Hell Tour. It will be one of four Texas stops as the two iconic metal bands open up the loudest tour of 2014.
