Toronto’s Rebel to host Passenger

Toronto's Rebel will host folk-tinged indie pop act Passenger on Wednesday, March 15 at 8 p.m. with support from special guest The Paper Kites.

Singer-songwriter Michael David Rosenberg, better known by his stage moniker Passenger, is out on the road promoting his latest studio long-player, Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea. The LP, which features the singles "Somebody's Love" and "Anywhere," dropped in September 2016 via Black Crow Records. Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea debuted at No. 70 on the Billboard 200.

Passenger hit the mainstream with the 2013 single “Let Her Go" from the album All the Little Lights. Released in February 2012 through Black Crow Records and Nettwerk, All the Little Lights debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Folk Albums chart and No. 26 on the Billboard 200. The LP spawned two additional singles: “The Wrong Direction” and “Holes.”

In all, Passenger has released seven full-length albums: Wicked Man's Rest (2007), Wide Eyes Blind Love (2009), Divers & Submarines (2010), Flight of the Crow (2010), All the Little Lights (2012), Whispers (2014), Whispers II (2015), and Young as the Morning Old as the Sea (2016).

Also on the bill is indie rock-folk outfit The Paper Kites. The Australian five-piece released their sophomore studio album, twelvefour, in August 2015 through Wonderlick Entertainment and Sony Music Australia. The album, written entirely between the hours of midnight and 4 a.m., was recorded in Seattle, Washington with producer Phil Ek (Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes). Debuting at No. 8 on the ARIA Albums Chart, twelvefour spawned four singles: “Electric Indigo,” “Revelator Eyes,” “Renegade,” and “Too Late.”
