Trombone Shorty is a trombone and trumpet player from New Orleans, a musician that took his love of percussion and created his own form of music, working with a large number of rock, jazz, hip-hop, funk and pop stars from the world of music. He is now preparing to headline a huge concert to celebrate the 300th anniversary of New Orleans on Sept. 15.
Trombone Shorty has put together a new super band of New Orleans talent that he has named Trombone Shorty’s Voodoo Threauxdown to perform a concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. While the concert is taking place in California, Trombone Shorty handpicked some of his home city's all-star musicians to join him as he brings the New Orleans sound to the West Coast.
Included in this concert are names like Galactic, New Breed Brass Band and Preservation Hall Jazz Band, with special guests Cyril Neville and Walter Wolfman Kermit Ruffins, and Washington. The Voodoo Threauxdown in Los Angeles is actually one of 27 stops across the United States, as he brings the New Orleans sound all over North America.
On top of the Los Angeles show, Trombone Shorty is also bringing Voodoo Threauxdown to SummerStage in Central Park in New York City on Aug. 8 (buy tickets here). AXS has tickets for the Los Angeles show on sale now for between $39.50 and $85 (buy tickets here).
