Many of the concert venues in Southern Arizona are winding down for the summer, but Casino Del Sol is just getting started. AVA Amphitheater is famous for having world-class entertainment and 2017 is no exception. For music enthusiasts, there is something for every taste including rock, country and rhythm and blues. If comedy is your preference, be prepared for lots of laughs as AVA has comedy on their roster.

Here’s a rundown of AVA’s entertainment in the coming months:

Memorial Day weekend has a double header. First, Cheech and Chong headline Saturday, May 27. These veteran comedians from the 1970s and 80s have conquered stage and screen and are a no-miss act.

The mood is shifted with the super R & B trio, Keith Sweat, Ginuwine and Dru Hill on Sunday, May 28. Platinum selling rhythm and blues singers, Keith Sweat, Ginuwine, and the group Dru Hill are coming to Tucson to perform in this rare appearance on the same stage on the same night.

There will be more rhythm and blues presented with “I Love the Nineties” party on July 23. The night is headlined by TLC, known for their multi-platinum albums and number one singles, ”Waterfall,” “Creep,” “No Scrubs” and “Unpretty.” Award-winning rapper, Coolio, will be there as well as Biz Markie.

Father’s Day has a special Tejano show featuring Siggno & Elida on June 17. This Grammy Award-winning group consists of musicians from different regions of Texas that represents a new musical genre called “Rockteno.” The group is lead by vocalist/accordionist, Jesse Turner. Don’t miss this family affair.

Alice Cooper, the king of ‘shock-rock’ returns to AVA again with his rock extravaganza on June 22. The music, the props, the characters, all the energy of Alice Cooper’s show guarantees an exciting experience that you don’t want to miss.

More great music is on the horizon at AVA with recent inductees in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Journey, appearing on July 18. They will bring their platinum singles “Don’t Stop Believing,” “Open Arms,” and “Who’s Cryin’ Now.” This highly commercial band has a nine times platinum album, Escape. The band, Asia, will open for Journey.

Southern rock super-stars, Lynyrd Skynyrd, will rock the stage on July 13. “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Free Bird” are some of the anthems of the night. The international hit makers, Tears for Fears, will be in Tucson on July 20. Their hits “Everybody Wants to Run the World” and “Shout” will only be a small part of what this creative band will bring to Tucson.

Country fans have two special treats in store this summer with Dwight Yoakam on July 27 and Toby Keith on October 29. Mr. Yoakam consistently sells out shows in Tucson. Toby Keith has sold more than 40 million records and he is the recipient of multiple awards in country music. This is a rare appearance for country fans in Tucson.

Comedy is well represented this season at Casino Del Sol. Veteran sit-com comedian, actor, and talk show host, George Lopez, will be on the AVA stage on June 24. Paul Rodriguez will join the WAR extravaganza on July 1. Actor and comedian, Nick Swardson does his standup comedy on July 9. Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias will bring his “five levels of fatness” to the AVA stage on October 28.
