When Thanksgiving rolls around, however, the Alamo City turns the charm level past the 10-decibel mark. This family-oriented town will have neighborhoods bursting with laughter and togetherness, heavenly smells of traditional Thanksgiving trimmings mixed with Hispanic flair filling the air, and turkey trots ready for runners to burn some calories before the big dinner is served.

On Thanksgiving, the King William District will become the home of one of San Antonio’s best turkey trots, The San Antonio Food Bank Turkey Trot will take runners on a tour of this up-and-coming hip neighborhood, and all proceeds from the race will go to benefit the San Antonio Food Bank to help the city’s less fortunate this holiday season.

You think you’re Texas tough for Thanksgiving? Well, the Texas Tough Turkey Chaser 5K/10K will give you a chance to prove you are. This fun race has become an annual event in this part of San Antonio, with a course that will take runners through the scenic Dominion Hills neighborhood in the upscale Dominion area of far northwest San Antonio. So lace up your running shoes and take to the streets to see if your Texas tough.

2017 Comal Cops for Kids Gruene Turkey Trot

For Thanksgiving runners in the town of New Braunfels, join the cops to take a run for the kids. The 2017 Comal Cops for Kids Gruene Turkey Trot will start at the historic Gruene Hall and will go to benefit Comal County law enforcement efforts to support the kids in the community. Speaking of the kids, make sure you bring them along and sign them up for the ¼ Mile Kid’s Turkey Chase, which will present your little ones with a chance to chase the race’s turkey mascot all throughout town.

The San Antonio Road Runners has become one of the city’s more respected organizations, especially when it comes to health and wellness, and this turkey trot in far north San Antonio will only aid in that quest. The SARR Turkey Trot 4 Miler will be in its 42nd year of running on Thanksgiving, and this family-oriented race will give all of its proceeds to the Coastal Food Bank in Corpus Christi. So gather up the family, tie-up those running shoes, and take to the streets at one of San Antonio’s oldest and cherished turkey trots.
