The colorfully masterful funk band known as Turkuaz will be closing out the year alongside their fans in Baltimore with a newly announced New Year’s Eve show at Ram’s Head Live. The concert on Dec. 31 will be the final show on their massive North American fall tour, in addition to their last of three straight gigs with the Pimps of Joytime on as support.
The nine-piece “powerfunk” group, who are known for their colorful stage attire in addition to their bombastically fun live show, have been on the road all summer and kicked off their nearly 50-date fall tour on Tuesday night in California. Over the next three and a half months they’ll play an impressive 46 shows leading up to the end of the year. They’ll also be joined during the run by various support acts including Sinkane, The Suffers, Con Brio and of course The Pimps of Joytime. Highlight shows on the current run include a homecoming show and the new Brooklyn Steel on Nov. 11 and Denver's Ogden Theatre on Sept. 30.
Since forming in 2008 and establishing a national touring schedule a few years later in 2012, the band has released a new album, live or studio, every year from 2011 to 2015. They haven’t released any new material since Digitonium October of 2015, but like most bands in the funk and jam band scenes, they have more than made up for it with their superb live shows and constant touring.
Tickets to the New Year’s Eve show at Rams Head Live will be going on sale starting this Friday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m., and can be purchased by clicking here.
