Being a rockstar in today’s celebrity-obsessed society means that you’re entitled to fun little benefits in life, which includes getting your potatoes peeled on demand. Such was the case for former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, who received the gift of one of his fans peeling a spud during his concert in London on Tuesday night.
As Noisey reports, a dedicated, starch-loving fan was spotted (plenty of pun intended) peeling away during Gallagher’s 10-song performance for Absolute Radio at the Bethnal Green Working Mens Club. Gallagher had made the request earlier in the day, saying “I’m looking for somebody to peel some spuds live on stage [tonight] at this gig in Bethnal Green must have own peeler.”
The ambitious peeler is not only a bold soul for somehow getting the usually sharp tool past security and making his way near the stage with spud in hand, but also made sure to get the famous singer’s attention in doing so. It wasn’t specified whether or not he/she peeled throughout the entire show or just during the performance's final song in “Wonderwall.” One can only assume and hope that Gallagher at least invited the fan backstage following the show for some homemade french fries.
“Potato” has been one of Liam’s go-to insults in recent years, and he can often be heard using the term to label his brother and former Oasis bandmate Noel Gallagher. It’s good to know that Liam at least has someone peeling his potatoes for him rather than doing it himself, which is more than he can say about his backstage tea situation these days.
Gallagher’s debut solo album, As You Were, was released back on Oct. 6, and its promotional North American tour is scheduled to start early next week at The Warfield in San Francisco on Nov. 13. Tickets for select shows on the three-week tour are on sale now, and can be purchased by clicking here. Bringing your own potatoes and peelers to shows on the upcoming tour is not encouraged.
