You’ve no doubt heard some of country music’s biggest hits, but do you know the stories behind them? Nashville based biographer Jake Brown gives us a behind-the-scenes look at over 300 number 1 hits by country music’s biggest stars in his upcoming book “Nashville Songwriter II: The Inside Stories Behind Country Music’s Greatest Hits." Brown’s 45th book and the second in the series, features exclusive interviews with some of country music’s biggest songwriters like Rhett Akins, Chris Tompkins, Hillary Lindsey, and Natalie Hemby.
To get a taste of the book, check out the AXS premiere of an interview with Lori McKenna, the songwriter behind Tim McGraw’s Grammy, CMA, and CMY award-winning hit “Humble and Kind.” Watch it above.
Speaking about the upcoming book Brown says "I spent the past four years talking to 34 of the top hitmakers on Music Row in the hopes of not only taking readers inside the writing room where the soundtrack of their lives are written, but equally to shed light on these songwriters' own back stories, from how they first discovered songwriting to the brave moves from the farm or small town to Nashville to pursue their dream of being part of country, their struggles and successes along the way, and hopefully provide the newest generation of aspiring Millennial songwriters a real-life look at all aspects and advice to being a competitive tunesmith working in today's highly competitive music business."
Physical and digital copies of “Nashville Songwriter II: The Inside Stories Behind Country Music’s Greatest Hits” will be available Oct. 15. Pre-order your copy here. Brown also released “Beyond The Beats,” a book featuring interviews with rock drummers, earlier this year.
