A Perfect Circle fans will have more opportunities to see the band in 2018 and can whet their appetites with a bizarre new video for the song “The Contrarian.” The Los Angeles alt-rockers have added several fall U.S. tour dates, which will keep the band on the road through mid-November.
The multi-platinum sellers posted the new tour dates on June 11 via Facebook. The tour extension announcement came in conjunction with the unveiling of the 2D video clip of “The Contrarian” via YouTube on Monday, which was adapted from a hologram film by Steven Sebring and filmed for inclusion with the deluxe version of their latest chart-topping release Eat the Elephant, which dropped April 20 via BMG.
New stops include an appearance in New Orleans at Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, which takes place between Oct. 26 – Oct. 28 with dates and times TBA. Other newly added major city stops include visits to Baltimore, Detroit and Minneapolis with the tour wrapping up Nov. 20 in Phoenix at Commerica Theatre.
Select presales for the new U.S. headline shows will begin on Wednesday, June 13 at 10:00 a.m. local time. Tickets go on sale to the general public starting on Friday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m. local time. For more details, click here.
The 4:00 minute 2D clip for “The Contrarian” opens with a haunting synth intro, as the camera focuses on an image of an octopus with tentacles moving in slow motion. Ghostly images of mad magicians and human puppeteers assault the eyes as frontman Maynard James Keenan sings, “Hello he lied/Like velvet/This magician's sleight of talk and hand.”
Eat the Elephant features 12 tracks and is available here in a variety of bundles in CD, digital, streaming and vinyl formats. Fans can check out the 2D video adaptation for “The Contrarian” above.
A Perfect Circle wrapped up their U.S. spring tour leg on May 26 in Dallas. The “Weak and Powerless” hitmakers are currently on tour in Europe with their next stop taking place June 12 in Manchester, U.K., at O2 Apollo Manchester.
