Watch AJR roam their hometown in 'Sober Up'

With a week until they embark on their first 2018 tour, the guys of AJR have unleashed a brand new music video. On Thursday (Feb. 1), the New York-based brothers unveiled the music video for their current single, “Sober Up.” The almost four-minute clip begins with frontman Jack Met walking out of a subway exit and beginning his trek down a sidewalk in New York.

While he’s waiting to cross a street, he doesn’t notice that there is a puddle below his feet showing a younger version of himself in the reflection. He continues on his trek unaware of the reflection following him. While stopped at an intersection, he is surprised to see the younger version of himself staring back at him from the reflection of some random guy’s sunglasses.

Throughout the clip, the viewer watches as Jake continues to see his younger self in every reflective surface he comes in contact with (a mirror, a glass building, another puddle). Joining him on his trip across town are his brothers/bandmates Adam and Ryan, playing their instruments.

According to a press release, the music video is “a nod to the song’s nostalgic lyrics” and “evokes a longing for youthful innocence.” Watch the music video for "Sober Up" above.

“Sober Up” is featured on AJR’s recently released sophomore album, The Click, which was released in the summer of 2017. The alternative radio staple was co-written and features Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo.

In support of the album’s release, the trio is set to hit the road later this month for their The Click spring 2018 tour. The upcoming trek will kick off next Thursday, Feb. 8, at The Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina. After spending three months on the road traveling across the continent, the tour will wrap up on May 12 at the House of Blues in Boston.

Currently, 12 out of the 32 upcoming tour stops have been classified as sold out. In addition to their upcoming headlining tour, the brothers will appear at several summer music festivals including Alabama’s Hangout Music Festival and Kentucky’s Forecastle Festival.
