While Jimmy Fallon may be the master of musical impersonations, Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara toppled him on "The Tonight Show" Friday. The 20-year old “Here” singer deftly portrayed her fellow 20-year-old Lorde, rapper Nicki Minaj, and singer Ariana Grande for the recurring Tonight Show game “Wheel of Impressions.” They say impersonation is the highest form of flattery, and if that’s true than Alessia must be a pretty big fan of all these ladies because her impersonations were spot on. You can check out “Wheel of Impressions” below and Alessia’s chat with Jimmy above.
2016 was a big year for Cara. She was awarded Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2016 Juno Awards. She was also tapped to open up for Coldplay for the North American and European legs of their “Head Full of Dreams.” So far 2017 is looking pretty good as well. Her single “Scars to Your Beautiful” reached the Top 10. Her previous single “How Far I’ll Go”—written by Lin-Manuel Miranda—was nominated for an Oscar. Cara will also make her Saturday Night Live debut on February 4, joining host Kristen Stewart.
