Alice Cooper continues to build anticipation for the release of his star-studded new studio album Paranormal, which drops on July 28 via Earmusic. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has released an official video for the title track from the upcoming release.
Cooper unveiled the video on July 14 via the official YouTube channel of his record label Earmusic. “Paranormal” is the second track to surface from the album, following the lead single “Paranoiac Personality,” which was released June 9.
The video opens with Cooper looking menacingly into the camera in a forest with smoke and ashes billowing up and around him as an electric guitar performs the arpeggiated minor chord introduction. Lightning effects flash as the band thunderously erupts behind two series of power chord accents, setting up the first verse.
The lead guitar performs falls into an eerie octave double stop pattern over a three chord progression, backed by a four-on-the-floor kick drum. Nightmare images of Cooper as a split personality fill the screen as the multi-platinum seller sings, “I'm condemned to the long endless night/And I live in the absence of light.”
Produced by Bob Ezrin, Paranormal features 10 tracks along with a special two-song mini-album, recorded with surviving members of Cooper's original band. Featuring guest appearances from members of U2, ZZ Top and Deep Purple, the album is available for preorder here in 2-CD, digital and vinyl formats. Fans can check out the new lyric video for the title track above.
The “School's Out” hitmaker will hit the road in support of the new album this summer. The world romp will kick off July 21 in Tromso, Norway, at Bukta-Tromso Open Air Festival. Cooper will head back to US shores for a co-headline tour with Deep Purple along with Edgar Winter Band, which begins on Aug. 12 in Las Vegas at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan and wraps up Sept. 10 in Cincinnati at Riverbend Music Center.
Rock's favorite boogie man will then return overseas for fall dates in Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Europe, which includes UK dates with members of the original band, beginning Nov. 11 in Leeds, United Kingdom, at First Direct Arena.
