DNCE frontman Joe Jonas and former Fifth Harmony singer turned solo star Camila Cabello took a nice leisurely drive down memory lane in the latest episode of Carpool Karaoke: The Series on Apple Music. The two young pop stars teamed up for a ride in the famous karaoke van in a new episode that aired earlier this week, to try and remember how they met in addition to singing their own duet version of Grease’s “You’re the One That I Want.”
As seen in the episode’s promo clip above, Joe gives Camila the choice on what song they should sing together, and she doesn’t disappoint in choosing a showtune classic for their television fans. The two dive right in with some timely awkward snapping as the familiar bass line to the song starts out (don’t worry, the car was parked). The former Jonas Brother showcases that million-dollar voice of his in channeling his inner Danny Zuko, and one could even say that his performance of the song was, electrifying.
Miss. Cabello also holds her own in doing her best Sandy impression, proving that the chemistry between the two is more than just your typical afternoon carpool. While each of their respective fan bases are probably more used to seeing them headline their own concerts, by the way, Jonas and Cabello sound together, it doesn't seem like anyone is going to object if they’re cast as the lead roles in the next off-Broadway touring production of Grease.
Cabello should have her vocal chords all warmed up and ready to go, as the 20-year-old is scheduled to release her debut solo album sometime this coming December. Jonas and his rock band DNCE have also stayed busy throughout the year, having spent much of it on tour in support of their own recent debut album. The young pop/rock group’s self-titled LP was released just over a year ago last fall and went on to peak at No. 17 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
