Drake gave his captive audience another reason to swoon during the kick off to his “Aubrey & The Three Migos Tour” with Migos in Kansas City, Missouri. The “God’s Plan” singer paid a sweet musical tribute to the late, great King of Pop Michael Jackson with an electrifying cover of “Rock with You,” from Jackson’s critically-acclaimed 1979 album Off the Wall.
A fan captured the moment in an Instagram video (attached below) and the crowd screamed in delight as Drake sang a slow, sultry version of the line “I wanna rock with you” and they finished the sentence in a thunderous “all night” echo, as cell phone lights lit up the venue like stars in the night sky.
Drake and Migos previously announced a postponement of the start of their highly-anticipated tour. Per Pitchfork, the superstars appeared to be in top form at the opening night show. Migos reportedly joined Drake to perform their Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 collab hit “Walk It Talk It” and treated concertgoers to a live debut performance of their 2013 collab “Versace.” Drake also performed his spectacular Michael Jackson collab track “Don’t Matter to Me,” hailing from his chart-busting fifth studio album, Scorpion.
Drake has been busy breaking records in the wake of Scorpion’s massive success. As previously reported, he is seeking to trademark the title of his record-breaking single “God’s Plan” for use as the name of a possible TV game show, related to the music video that resulted in an estimated $1 million in donations handed out by Drake. Drake and Migos will stop at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California on the "Aubrey & The Three Migos Tour" for three shows on Friday, Oct. 12 (Tickets), Saturday, Oct. 13 (Tickets) and Sunday, Oct. 14 (Tickets). Stay tuned to AXS for Drake news and updates.
