There has been a lot of buzz around JAY-Z’s new album, 4:44, which drops on June 30. But we really haven’t heard much of it. We do, however, know that there will be a film or a series of short films to accompany the new record. Last week JAY-Z released a 30 second trailer titled “Adnis”--which featured a snippet of a song by the same name--that starred Danny Glover and Mahershala Ali. More recently, JAY released a trailer called “Kill Jay Z,” interestingly using the old stylization of his name. Unlike “Adnis,” where we got a few lyrics, both “Kill Jay Z” and the latest trailer only contain instrumentals.
The new clip probably doesn’t even need music--although the beat sounds awesome--because of the performance from Grammy-winner Lupita Nyong’o. Her face shows so much emotion. All of the trailers have been pretty powerful, and Nyong’o’s is no different. You watch both the Nyong’o' and “Kill Jay Z” trailers below. JAY-Z has also announced a slew of 4:44 listening parties across the country on June 29 before the album comes out. You can find more information on the listening parties here.
