It wouldn't be the holiday season if some of the most prominent personalities in music didn't release a full-length Christmas-themed LP for all of our enjoyment. And this year, none other than the EGOT-accomplished singer-songwriter, John Legend, released his Raphael Saadiq-produced Christmas album entitled, A Legendary Christmas, on Oct. 26. The album includes original music such as "Wrap Me in Your Love" and "Bring Me Love" while Legend performs Christmas classics such as “Silver Bells,” “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),” and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" featuring the musical prodigy jazz musician, Esperanza Spalding who hit the stage to perform the track alongside Legend in the season finale of The Voice this past Tuesday night.
The two hit the stage in matching red ensembles while smoke poured into the crowd from the ground and an illuminated snowflake-themed backdrop drew the eye across the spacious stage. The two performed the Christmas classic intertwining Legend's thick, rich voice with Spalding's much lighter and controlled tone. A brief trombone solo added extra elements of the holiday season as the two singers closed out the classic track to applause from the packed studio audience.
You can get John Legend's A Legendary Christmas album wherever music is sold while you can also purchase Esperanza Spalding's latest visual and musical project 12 Little Spells on all music platforms as well.
