Judas Priest continues to build anticipation ahead of their 2018 North American tour launch. The British heavy metal pioneers have released an official video for their brand new single “Spectre."
The Grammy winners unveiled the new single and video on March 9 via their official YouTube channel in conjunction with the release of their 18th studio effort Firepower, which dropped Friday via Epic. “Spectre” is the follow up to the album's previously released singles "Lightning Strike," "Never the Heroes" and the title track.
The 3-minute and 19-second video opens with an ominous lead intro by JP guitarist Richie Faulkner. Black & white images of incinerated forests, mushroom clouds, drone surveillance shots and lightning are interspersed with live performance footage as the song comes thundering to life with frontman Rob Halford railing against hidden powers that be, singing, “In a league of his own/A villain with no morals/Above the law and reckless/Mutating day by day.”
Firepower features 14 original songs co-written, by Faulkner, Halford and recently retired guitarist Glenn Tipton. It is available here in CD, digital and vinyl in a variety of bundles. Fans can enjoy the official video for “Firepower” above.
Judas Priest fans in the New York area can check out a newly announced pop-store at Sony Square NYC. The event runs from March 9 - March 19 and features memorabilia and merchandise, including handwritten Rob Halford lyrics, rare photos, concert outfits, as well as the multi-platinum seller's entire vinyl catalog. Lucky fans who receive special wristbands with their purchases will be able to attend a special Firepower CD signing by band members, slated for March 19 at 6 p.m. ET at Sony Square NYC.
