Alternative-pop singer and songwriter Maggie Rogers continues to thrive in her run of newfound success ever since her viral breakout single, “Alaska” introduced her to the masses back in 2016. She’s currently touring around North America this fall alongside another up and coming indie-pop artist Mallrat while gearing up for the January 2019 release of her debut album, Heard It In A Past Life.
The young singer has stayed busy touring and gigging around the globe over the past few years while continuing to add onto the momentum created by that debut indie hit of hers. Rogers channeled her journey as a traveling musician in the brand new music video for “Light On,” one of the singles set to appear on Heard It In A Past Life when the album drops on Jan. 18. The full video, which can be seen above, takes Maggie and viewers onto the open road where her semi-fictional wanderlust life includes both lonely dinners and joyfully dancing in the middle of desolate Oregon highways. The vulnerable lyrics Rogers can be heard singing behind the wheel don’t seem to be directed at anyone in particular, but rather act as a reminder meant for herself as she belts out, “I am finding out/There’s just no other way/And I’m still dancing/At the end of the day.”
"There was so much change that happened so fast, I wasn't always sure how to make all this stuff feel like me,” Rogers commented about how her latest single reflects the dramatic changes in her life over the last few years.
Some of those big changes which Rogers is surely still getting used to is sharing the bill with big name artist like Mumford & Sons, whom she’ll be joining for their gig at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Dec. 18 as part of their massive Delta Tour. Not a bad step up from the New York University classrooms just down the street where Rogers began her journey as a songwriter. Tickets for the show, as well as select concerts on Rogers’ fall headlining tour are on sale now and can be purchased by clicking here.
