“Rock Legends” is a dynamic AXS TV original series that blends archival footage, music video clips and expert music critic insight to present an in-depth profile of some of music’s biggest artists. Tonight’s riveting episode explores the iconic career of the late, great British pop superstar George Michael. From his days as Wham! front man and “Careless Whispers” to his Grammy-winning solo career and game-changing debut solo album Faith, George Michael left an indelible imprint on the face of pop music and in his fans’ hearts before his sudden death last year. Tune in at 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. to find out more about the legendary international heartthrob.
Nobody conducts an interview quite like Sammy Hagar and tonight he catches up with his good friend Adam Levine on the season finale of “Rock & Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar” presented by Mercury Insurance. The Red Rocker goes for a ride in “The Voice” coach’s Ferrari and later they jam with guitar legend Richie Sambora. The collective talent among these three men is explosive. You won’t want to miss a minute of their time together, which airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET/ 8 p.m. CT.
Elton John is one of the biggest music superstars to hail from England. AXS TV premieres "Brit Icons: Elton John" tonight at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT. The hit-filled concert special was filmed at the London Palladium and features the Grammy-winning legend performing some of his biggest songs including "Bennie and the Jets," "Tiny Dancer" and "Your Song." It also features interviews with Elton John and never-before-seen clips from his prolific career.
Finally, AXS TV pays tribute to the late King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley in a special programming block which airs on the 40th anniversary of his death on Wednesday, Aug. 16. First, “Classic Albums: Elvis Presley” takes a behind-the-scenes look at Elvis’ self-titled RCA debut album. This record was the first rock record to make it to the top of the charts, where it spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard Top Pop Albums in 1956. The album spawned one of Elvis’ signature songs, “Blue Suede Shoes” and ignited an international fan following that rivaled Beatlemania in its frenzied intensity.
“Classic Albums” airs at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT and is followed by a special presentation of the AXS TV original film “Elvis Lives!” at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT. “Elvis Lives!” serves up an “alternate reality” in which the “Jailhouse Rock” singer goes undercover to take down a crime syndicate and protect his family, which plays to wide speculation that Elvis didn’t really die – he just went into hiding. The Aug. 16 Elvis Presley block is part of month-long AXS TV coverage that honors one of pop/rock music’s most legendary superstars.
