Roger Waters has revealed initial details of his first solo studio album in 25 years. The ex-Pink Floyd frontman has posted a teaser video clip revealing the album's title as "Is This What We Really Want?".
The legendary British rocker revealed the news on Feb. 16 at his official Twitter account and posted the video teaser at his official YouTube channel. The album will be the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's fourth solo album and a follow up to 1992's Amused to Death.
Although the exact release date of the album is not provided in the post, the multi-platinum seller does promise the new studio release is “coming soon.” It's quite possible the album could precede the launch of his hugely anticipated AEG Live produced Us + Them Tour of North America, which launches May 26 in Kansas City, Missouri, at Sprint Center and wraps up Oct. 28 in Vancouver, British Columbia, at Rogers Arena.
“New album from Roger Waters,” says the update posted at the “Money” hitmaker's Twitter account. “Is This What We Really Want? coming soon."
The brief 38-second video clips displays a camera scanning over a typewritten page of lyrics beginning with the title Is This What We Really Want?' The video features conceptual music bearing Water's signature style ( presumably from the upcoming album) in the background as the displayed lyrics are very quickly blacked out on the page. Fans can check out the intriguing video above.
Waters is currently in the studio working on the studio album with producer Nigel Godrich. He wrapped up his 2016 touring with a pair of huge headline appearances last fall at Desert Trip along with an appearance at Neil Young's annual Bridge School Benefit Concert, which was held Oct. 22 - Oct. 23 in Mountain View, California.
The multi-Grammy winner's Us + Them is slated to hit 43 cities so far with details on upcoming dates for shows in San Antonio, Texas and Winnipeg, Manitoba, expected in the coming weeks. Tickets for Roger Waters 2017 North American tour are available at AXS
