The Dropkick Murphys may have released their brand new album 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory earlier this year, but don't expect the Boston boys to stop releasing new music videos for the album's tunes any time soon. On Thursday (June 8), the Massachusetts-based band released the music video for their latest single, "Until the Next Time." The four-minute clip features a simple premise that primarily focuses on celebrating the Dropkick Murphys live shows and those who always show up to have a good time.
According to vocalist/bassist Ken Casey, the whole point of the song, and the Gregory Nolan-directed clip, is to celebrate those die-hard fans.
“This song is about our relationship with YOU, the best fans on the planet. It's about the memories and the great friends we've made along the way…about the pleasure of coming to so many cities that we feel we can almost call home, and the bittersweet moments of having to say goodbye and move on to the next town every night.”
The music video features footage of the band behind-the-scenes, in an empty venue during rehearsals, meeting their fans during meet-and-greets (and signing an arm in the process), taking pictures with fans, performing for a rambunctious crowd, and inviting a slew of fans on stage to take over and have a general good time.
In a press release, Casey also revealed that the clip features footage that was recorded while the Dropkick Murphys were on their 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory tour earlier this year. Watch the music video for "Until the Next Time" above.
"Until the Next Time" is featured on the band's ninth studio album, 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory. The group released the album back in January which landed at the number eight spot on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The record, the band's first through their own Born & Bred Records, landed at the top spot on the independently released album category.
In support of 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory, the Dropkick Murphys have been touring relentlessly since its release at the beginning of the year. Currently, the group is in the middle of the European leg of the 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory tour. Once the tour concludes on July 16 at the Iveagh Gardens in Dublin, Ireland, the Dropkick Murphys will return to the United States for their joint "From Boston to Berkeley Tour" with Rancid.
The "From Boston to Berkeley Tour" will kick off on July 27 at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor, Maine and wrap up a month later on Aug. 26 at the It’s Not Dead Festival in San Bernardino, CA. The Bouncing Souls and Jake Burns of Stiff Little Fingers will open the tour from July 27 to Aug. 9 while The Selecter and Kevin Seconds (7 Seconds) will replace The Bouncing Souls and Burns from Aug. 11 to the end of the tour.
