Watch the hilarious trailer for Viceland's new show 'What Would Diplo Do?'

Viceland has released a trailer for their first scripted program and it looks mad decent. The debut show is a parody on the life of superstar DJ and producer Diplo called “What Would Diplo Do?” Diplo, aka Thomas Wesley Pentz, is played by his real-life doppelganger, actor James Van Der Beek.

Vulture made the apt comparison between “What Would Diplo Do?” and the recent Lonely Island flick “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.” The trailer features Diplo looking back on his “impossible” career, searching for ridiculous new sounds and, of course, returning to his trusty dub horn. You can check out the trailer above.

The project may have stemmed from a comical promotional video Diplo put out last year for his travelling electronic fest Mad Decent Block Party where the producer enlisted the help of JVDB to play Diplo in an over the top “day in the life” type video. You can check out the Mad Decent promo below. “What Would Diplo Do?” premieres Aug. 3 on Viceland.

Mad Decent Block Party featuring Diplo’s Major Lazer, Alison Wonderland and more will be returning to Red Rocks Amphitheater this year. Click here for tickets.
