Demi Lovato has shared the first official trailer for her new YouTube documentary, "Simply Complicated." The upcoming film is scheduled to arrive on the popular video streaming platform on Oct. 17, and judging by the interview footage within the new trailer, Lovato fans will be on a rollercoaster of emotions as the pop singer takes them through the ups and downs of both her deeply personal and professional lives.

As seen in the video above, the pop singer looks to tell the story of how she got to where she is today, fresh off the successful release of her sixth studio album, Tell Me You Love Me. Lovato has been outspoken about personal battles with substance abuse and her fight for sobriety, which is addressed by both herself and those closest to her throughout the video. She also touches on the current status of her dating life while attempting to balance it with the global “Demi Lovato” entertainment brand that she's built since leaving the Disney Channel life a few years ago. That can be quite the daunting task for anyone in today’s invasive, celebrity-obsessed entertainment culture, let alone for a 25 year old transitioning into adulthood.

“I’m on a journey to discover what it’s like to be free of all demons,” Lovato can be heard saying close to the end of the trailer. “When I’m comfortable in my own skin, I feel confident. When I feel confident, I feel sexy. When I feel sexy, watch out.”

Lovato released Tell Me You Love Me back on Sept. 29. The new LP is currently sitting at No. 3 on Billboard’s 200 album sales chart behind Tom Petty and Shania Twain

Fans can also watch the video below, which shows Demi blowing off some steam during a Jiu Jitsu workout in one of the segments that didn’t end up making it into the final version of the film.
