Watch: The Who's Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey perform rare duet on 'Drowned' in Las Vegas

The Who played their fourth performance of a six-night stand on Aug. 7 in Las Vegas at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The “Pinball Wizard” hitmakers rocked Sin City with a hit-filled 23-song setlist, which included a rare lead vocal teaming of Who frontmen Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend on the 1973 Quadrophenia gem “Drowned.”

Although lead vocals for “Drowned” were originally recorded by Daltrey on the album, Townshend began handling lead vocals on the song on tour after original Who drummer Keith Moon died in 1978.

Penned by Townshend and recorded initially as a blues-rocker, Daltrey played blues harp on early live arrangements of the song with the band. But around the mid-90s, Townshend began primarily performing “Drowned” as an acoustic solo number on Who tours. That changed Monday night at The Colosseum.

In the 4:04 minute video clip, The Who co-founders trade off verses with Daltrey handling the first and third verses with Townshend on acoustic guitar, handling second verse and the middle eight turnaround. Check out the duet above and see the night's full setlist below.

Fans still have two more opportunities to catch the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers during their first-ever Las Vegas residency on Aug. 9 and Aug. 11 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Tickets for both shows are available at AXS.

Following their Vegas romp, fans can catch The Who during their headline appearance at Outside Lands Festival on Aug. 13 in San Francisco. The U.S. leg wraps up Aug. 16 in Stateline, NV. at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena At Harveys and will be followed by The Who's first-ever tour of South America, which begins Sept. 21 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, at Allianz Parque.

Townshend and Daltrey both also have brief solo projects this fall. Pete Townshend's Classic Quadrophenia will begin a US mini-tour on Sept. 2 in Lenox, Massachusetts, at Tanglewood and wrap up Sept.16 in Los Angeles at The Greek Theater. Daltrey and his band will perform shows on Oct. 27 in Riviera Maya, Mexico, at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, as well as Nov. 1 in  Hollywood, Fla., at Hard Rock Live.
