U2 recently released a Christmas video message to their fans that teased some exciting news for 2017. After wishing everyone a “Happy Christmas,” Bono reveals that U2’s second installment of the band’s homage to poet William Blake, Songs of Experience, will be out in 2017. The singer also announced that there will be some “very, very special” shows coming in 2017 for the 30-year anniversary of the band’s groundbreaking album Joshua Tree. Bono delivers the news while The Edge plays a very edgy “Little Drummer Boy” and Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. goof around with Christmas toys. You can check out the video below.
Songs of Experience will be the follow up to 2014’s Songs of Innocence, which the band delivered free to all iTunes customers. The Danger Mouse produced record was also nominated for a Best Rock Album Grammy. U2 embarked on a massive "Innocence + Experience" tour in 2016. U2's 1987 album, Joshua Tree, was a huge record and won the Grammy for Album of the Year. It will be interesting to see what the band has planned for the momentous anniversary.
