It’s time to head for the hills! The mountains of West Virginia, that is, where the Mountain Music Festival is set to take place near Fayetteville in the beautiful New River Gorge area June 1-3. The idea behind having the festival in the Appalachian playground is to give music fans an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors when they’re not grooving to performances by Umphrey’s McGee, Twiddle, the Revivalists, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and a couple dozen other bands.

The Mountain Music Festival takes place at the ACE Adventure Resort in Oak Hill, which is just minutes outside Fayetteville. The resort is the jumping off place for outdoor activities like zip lining, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking and stand up paddle-boarding as well as disc golf and mud racing. There will also be a kid’s area and lots of food and drink from regional producers. The festival has a soft opening on Thursday and kicks into high gear the following days.
