Holiday Lights at Columbus Commons

Columbus Commons is sparkling with holiday lights, illuminating Downtown Columbus through the holidays. Stroll or drive through the city to enjoy the free outdoor display of about 320,000 festive lights and decorations.

The Scioto Mile and Bicentennial is illuminated with about 250,000 twinkling holiday lights and displays. so take a walk or a drive through the area to enjoy the holiday decorations.

Wildlights at Columbus Zoo & Aquarium

The Columbus Zoo, is illuminated with more than three million sparkling lights for Wildlights, which features holiday activities and fun for children. Regular admission rates will apply, so check the zoo website for details.

Ohio State Chinese Lantern Festival

The Chinese Lantern Festival is a stunning celebration of lights and culture, featuring entertainers and the works of artisans from China. There are about 35 Chinese lantern installations and more than 15,000 colorful LED lights. The Festival’s troupes will entertain guests with nightly performances of acrobatics and martial arts demonstrations. The acts vary every day, but include Mongolian and Tibetan-style dancing, Chinese face-changing, and plate spinning. Admission is $10-$15.

Gardens Aglow

Franklin Park Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, 1777 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43203

The holiday exhibit at the Franklin Park Conservancy displays seasonal foliage and poinsettias, seasonal and sparkling holiday lights. Take the family to see the garden and the display of the annual gingerbread competition. The Paul Busse model garden railway will be on display to delight kids and adults. There is a variety of holiday entertainment throughout the holidays, including musical performances, ballet, crafts, and more  Gardens Aglow will be included with regular admission ($7-$14).

“Hayes Train Special” Model Train Display at Rutherford B. Hayes Museum

The “Hayes Train Special” is a popular holiday event at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museum. This year’s display includes six trains and two trolleys, decorated for the holiday season. Admission is included with regular museum admission, so you can tour the museum on the same day. 

 Holidays in Easton: Horse Drawn Carriage Rides

Easton Town Center is festively decorated and will present holiday music and festive events through the holiday season. Horse-drawn-carriage rides will run on weekends through Dec. 23, for a fee of $10/person (Children under 15 will be able to ride free with paying adult). Santa will be available for  Santa photos daily until Christmas Eve.

You can enter the 5th Annual Holiday Lights Gingerbread Contest until Dec. 15. The entries will be judged on the Visit Gahanna Facebook page.

Christmas Candlelighting and Holidays in Roscoe Village

Historic Roscoe Village in Coshocton will take you back in time with an old-fashioned Christmas and holiday lights. The Christmas Candlelighting ceremony on Dec. 9 (6 p.m.) will feature holiday music and the lighting of a 30-foot Christmas tree in the center of the village. A candle will be passed through the crowd and everyone will sing “Silent Night” until everyone has a lighted candy. Take the family to enjoy a day of holiday activities, including horse-drawn carriage rides, strolling carolers, roasted chestnuts, crafts, and holiday shopping. The ceremony will be free to attend, but there might be a fee for special activities. There will be a craft sale in Roscoe Village on Dec. 16.

Butch Bando’s Fantasy of Lights is a three-mile drive-through holiday light show that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your car. Bundle up the family and enjoy the show of upgraded LED  lights and displays. The show benefits a couple of local charities. Santa’s House is across the street at Cross Creek Camping Resort.
