Christmas lights and decorations are a spectacular sight during the holiday season in New York. Kids of all ages will be delighted by the sparkling displays of lights in the parks, neighborhoods, and stores in New York in 2017.

18th Annual Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square
Nov. 27 – holiday season

Lincoln Square, on the Upper West Side, will be illuminated with a special ceremony on Nov. 27 @ 5:30 p.m. Micky Dolenz, of the band The Monkees, will illuminate the Christmas tree during this holiday festival, which will feature entertainment and fun for the family.

85th Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting 2017

The famous Christmas tree at Rockefeller Plaza will be illuminated in a televised ceremony on NBC Television Network on Nov. 29. Thousands of spectators will crowd the sidewalks around Rockefeller to see the delightful illumination of the Christmas tree, while millions will watch the event on television. The decorations at Rockefeller Plaza, which will include giant angels with trumpets and water fountains, will be spectacular sight through the beginning of January

21st Annual Central Park Holiday Lighting

Central Park will be illuminated for the holiday season at the Holiday Lighting, which will feature carol singing, Santa Claus, and a live ice carving demonstration. The event will conclude with the illumination of the flotilla of trees on the Harlem Meer.

The family shopping strip will be a holiday delight, as the stores are illuminated and beautifully decorated. Take a stroll down Fifth Avenue between 59th Street and 39th Street and enjoy the magical glow of the holidays. Some of the notable stores on the street include Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Tiffany & Co., Henri Bendel, and Lord & Taylor. Hotels on Fifth Avenue will also display some of the best light shows and decorations in the city. Check out The decorations on the  Plaza and The Peninsula New York. The stunning UNICEF snowflake will hang overhead on 57th Street, shimmering with more than 16,000 Baccarat crystals.

Holiday Under the Stars

Holiday Under the Stars is a huge exhibit of 12 14-foot stars that glow as the hang from the ceiling of the 150-foot Great Room overlooking Central Park. Visit the Time Warner Center to see this nightly spectacle. Admission is free.

The Radio City Music Hall in Times Square displays a lighted Christmas tree on their marquee, so stop and enjoy the sparkling tree. The famous Rockettes will be performing their Radio City Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall through the holiday season.

Dyker Heights Christmas Lights

The Brooklyn neighborhood will be decorated with fabulous lights and ornaments from Thanksgiving weekend and through the holidays, but the best time to view the Christmas lights will be from mid-December through New Year’s Eve. Every year, over 100,000 visit Dyker Heights to see the elaborate Christmas lights, and over-the-top decorations.

The annual lighting ceremony on the Broadway Malls will illuminate the mall for the holidays. The ceremony will feature free entertainment by the Reaching for the Arts Children’s Choir and dancers form Ballroom Basix. Complimentary cookies and apple cider will be served.

The glass-encased atrium of the Winter Garden will be illuminated with 650 colorful luminaries, that magically change color and intensity as visitors send wishes.

2017 Annual Park Avenue Tree Lighting Ceremony

The tree lighting ceremony on Park Avenue has been a tradition for 70 years. The event began to honor men and women who served and died in World War II.

Sea of Light: An Interactive Journey of Light + Sound
Dec. 5 - Holidays
South Seaport District, New York, NY

The Seaport District will debut the Sea of 10002 Light winter light show on Dec. 5. The immersive sensory adventure of light and sound is activated by proximity and touch. Tickets for opening night are free but will be necessary to see the show. The 30-foot tall Christmas tree will be on the new Seaport Square, near Pier 17, next to the museum’s historic ships.
