San Francisco will be a spectacular sight during the Christmas season, with festive decorations and bright lights illuminating the landmarks and neighborhoods throughout the Bay area.  Check out the brilliant light displays in San Francisco, Oakland, and the Bay Area in 2017.

Illuminate SF Festival of Lights

The Illuminate Festive will feature 37 displays in 16 San Francisco neighborhoods. Pick a neighborhood to explore on a free guided tour or self-guided tour. Most of the art installations will be free to view.

The 555 Tree Lighting

The annual Tree Lighting celebration in the financial district will include a tree lighting countdown, musical performances, and other festivities.

ZooLights at Oakland Zoo
Dec. 1-23 & Dec. 26-Jan. 1 @ 5:30 p.m.

ZooLights will be an all-new experience this year, with hundreds of thousands of holiday lights and structures illuminating the night sky and a music-themed light show. The candy cane lane themed Adventure Landing will feature rides sure to delight the kids. Santa Claus will be at ZooLights on select dates during the holiday season. ZooLights is not included in regular admission. Tickets are $9-$10.

Jack London Square Tree Lighting Ceremony

The holiday season will be heralded with the lighting of the holiday tree on the Oakland waterfront. The festive event will be free and open to the public, so enjoy the evening of festivities, the lighted 55-ft Mount Shasta fir tree, holiday music and more.

10th Annual Holiday Circle of Lights

Visit the magical storyland of holiday lights with holiday displays, Christmas scenes, and a giant Nutcracker. The Circle of Lights will open with a blessing followed by the illumination of the Christmas tree and holiday refreshments.

Tom & Jerry’s Christmas Display

Tom & Jerry’s Christmas Display has become a popular holiday attraction, featuring a 65-foot Christmas tree covered with sparkling lights and huge ornaments. Santa Claus will make a nightly appearance through Christmas Eve.

Widmer World in Pleasanton

The Christmas Fantasy features almost an acre of lights and animated displays. Widmer World will be free to view, but please be respectful of neighbors.

27th Annual Union Street Fantasy of Lights

The 27th Annual Union Street Fantasy of Lights with thousands of twinkling lights will be kicked off on Dec. 2 and will be illuminated through New Year’s Eve.  Union Street will be transformed into a winter wonderland, setting off the Victorian houses on Union St., between Van Ness & Steiner, Fillmore St. from Union to Lombard.

The 19th Fantasy of Lights is a festive display is organized by the Santa Clara County Parks. The lights and decorations can be viewed as a Walk-Through, Drive-Through, or on a Train Ride. Ticket prices vary, so check the website for information.

Mickey Mouse Christmas House

The Mickey Mouse Christmas House draws thousands of viewers each year to see the collection of Disney memorabilia illuminated by holiday lights. After three generations of putting on this Christmas show, 2017 will be the final year for Mickey Mouse Christmas House, as the Mize family has decided it is time to simplify.

ZooLights at San Francisco Zoo

ZooLights will light up the San Francisco Zoo during the holiday season. Take the family to visit with Santa Claus and his reindeer and enjoy the holiday music. The zoo will also host the Reindeer Romp from Nov. 18-Jan. 1.  See the SF Zoo website fore

Fisherman’s Wharf Lighted Boat Parade

Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco, CA

Boats will be festooned with holiday lights and decorations to parade along the waterfront on San Francisco Bay. The parade route will begin off of PIER 39 and will proceed west past Fisherman’s Wharf, Fort Mason, and the St. Francis Yacht Club. The parading boats will turn around off Crissy Field and return along the waterfront. Spectators will be able to get great views of the from the Aquatic Park, PIER 39, the Marina Green, Crissy Field, and many of the restaurants along the Wharf.  The Fisherman’s Wharf Fishing Fleet will be illuminated through the holiday season.

Christmas Tree Lane in Palo Alto

Christmas Tree Lane is a holiday tradition that dates to 1940 when four neighbors decorated the street with Yule trees. The best way to view the lights and decorations is to park in an adjacent neighborhood and stroll down the festive lane.
