Whitney announces new music, 2019 tour dates

It took the disbandment of the Smith Westerns for frontman vocalist/drummer Julien Ehrlich and guitarist Max Kakacek to come together and form the indie rock collective known as Whitney. The Chicago-based duo shared songwriting duties which eventually led to the release of their critically-acclaimed first studio album, Light Upon the Lake (2016) under the Secretly Canadian record label imprint.

Whitney's notorious guitar riffs, strong songwriting ability, and Ehrlich's unique vocal cadence have allowed Whitney to become one of the sought after indie folk/rock collectives in recent history. With only one full-length project under their belts, Whitney has become a successful touring festival act and even headlined their very own international tour. Now, the "No Woman" performers are planning to release their second studio album in the near future that will deal with 'fear, confusion, life, death, and substance abuse' according to a recent interview the band carried out with publication, DIY. In conjunction with the announcement of new music on the way, the band also revealed that they will be embarking on another international tour beginning this fall.
