Willie Nile is in paradise. Children of Paradise, that is, as the rocker has revealed the title and details for his twelfth studio album. Watch Nile's album announcement by playing the video above, before you can pre-order the record now on iTunes and receive the song "Earth Blues" immediately, weeks ahead of the album's July 27 release date.

Children of Paradise features 12 new songs and is Nile's first album of original songs since World War Willie two years ago. According to the album's press release, it's a self-released record through Nile's own River House record label, and he's brought all of his frequent collaborators back to put it together. Longtime producer Stewart Lerman co-produces the record, while Nile's regular live band back him up on the album. Perhaps closest to home is the song "Lookin' For Someone," which was co-written by Nile and songwriter Andrew Dorff. Per the press release, Dorff died not long after the song was completed, and Nile has chosen to dedicate Children of Paradise in his memory.

Given all of that, there's no denying that the new album is a labor of love for Willie Nile, and love is what he's hoping to spread with its songs. "Music always lifts my spirits, and that’s what these songs do for me and it’s why I wrote them," the singer and songwriter said in the album's press release. "Hopefully they can lift others’ spirits as well."

By featuring the people nearest and dearest to him, and speaking from the heart, Nile is turning a page with Children of Paradise. He's no less a rock and roll hero, but he's taking a breath and showing audiences who and what has helped him build a successful career that spans almost 30 years. It's not just about him making new music, but also reconnecting with people and sounds that he loves, and has gotten his fans to love since 1980. This new record will get music fans even closer to the veteran artist, and there will also be chances to see him up close and personal when he tours this fall.

Following the album's release, Nile has lined up a handful of tour dates to take his new music on the road. He'll be playing the NYC Hudson River Cruise on Aug. 16, and two shows at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, Maine on Oct. 5 and 6. Tickets for both stops are on sale now using the included links, while future tour dates will be announced on his website.
